Product Description

Details                                                                                                                                                                                    This solar battery charger supplies 15V at around 100-120mA of current when in sunlight.  This is enough to keep a  12V battery that is infrequently used topped up. Its ideal for that second car, ride-on lawnmower, tractor, boat, etc.

Its housed in a plastic case, and has an output lead to cigarette lighter plug, with a LED, which illuminates when the solar panel receives a charge.

Note: some cars will require this to be directly wired to the battery, as the cigarette lighter socket is disconnected when the ignition is switched off.

Size  370(L) x 160(W) x 20(D) mm

Pros:I got this because I usually leave my car parked for days at a time and find my battery struggling to start the ignition.
I have a long car and the device's cable is long enough to let me place it by the rear window.
It's very easy to install, just plug it in and you're good to go. That is if your cigarette lighter socket stays connected to the batt even with the key turned to the off position.
It's a bit bigger than I imagined so I guess, it would live up to its 20+ volts rating without load (with load, voltage is about 12v.
Putting it about a couple of feet from a dim flourescent lamp, i measure about 1v.

Cons:If you're cigarette lighter socket does not connect to the battery when the key is in the off position, you'll have to find a way to connect it to the battery or find wires that are connected to the battery and tap there.

Bottomline:It's a good product overall. I am now able to let my car security stay on for days at a time without fear of flattening the battery. (Posted on 5/3/11)
